Holy Scriptures

We believe in the verbal (every word) and plenary (complete) inspiration of the Old and New Testaments, inerrant in the original writings, infallible, and God-breathed.  We believe they are the final authority for faith and life and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions shall be tried.

Godhead

We believe in one triune God, the Maker, Preserver, and Ruler of all things, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Holy Trinity)—co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, each with distinct personal functions, but without division of nature, essence, or being. God has manifested His essence through His attributes, which may be divided into categories:  first, His attributes associated with greatness which include:  self-existence, infinity, perfection, omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, immutability, and incomprehensibility, and second, His attributes associated with goodness which include: holiness, love, truth, righteousness, faithfulness, justice, mercy and grace.

Person and Work of God the Father

We believe that God the Father is Father to all those who have accepted Jesus Christ as personal Savior.  We believe that:

• God the Father is the infinite and perfect Spirit in whom all things have their source, support and end.
• He is the creator and nurturer of creation, and the provider for his children.
• In love and for our salvation, He exalted Jesus Christ far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
• He subjects all things to His Son, and gave him as head over all things to the church.

Person and Work of the Lord Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, perfect God and perfect man.  We believe that:

• He is God manifested in the flesh, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary.
• He lived a sinless life on earth.
• He died on Calvary’s cross as a satisfactory sacrifice for sinners.
• His body was buried in and arose from Joseph’s tomb, and He was seen of many.
• He ascended to Heaven and is glorified at God the Father’s right hand where He intercedes for believers and is preparing eternal dwelling places for them.
• He is coming again for His own and then to establish His Kingdom on earth.

Person and Work of the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Holy Trinity and is co-equal with God the Father and God the Son.  We believe that:  

• He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
• He is the supernatural agent in regeneration (rebirth); at the moment of regeneration, the baptism of the Holy Spirit takes place and the believer has no further need to seek the Spirit’s baptism as an evidence of regeneration.
• He indwells all believers and seals them unto the day of redemption.
• He teaches and guides believers, who, by the filling of the Spirit, are endued with power for life and witnessing.

Man

We believe man was created by a direct act of God and not by any evolutionary process (Genesis 2:7).  We believe that:

• Man was created in God’s own image and in a state of innocence.
• Through Adam’s transgression, sin entered into the world, and death by sin—not only physical death—but spiritual death, which is conscious and eternal separation from God.
• Consequently, his posterity inherits a corrupt nature, being born in sin and under its condemnation, and as soon as each becomes capable of moral action, each becomes an actual transgressor.

Salvation

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ “died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried; and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures”.  We believe that:

• A person is saved when he repents of his sin and exercises faith by accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
• Salvation is a gift of eternal life wholly by the grace of God without any merit or works.
• The atonement of Christ is not limited in its availability, but Christ died for the sins of all mankind.
• God desires all to be saved and come to knowledge of the truth, and it is not His will that any should perish, but all should come to repentance.
• Those who are truly the redeemed of God are kept by God’s power.  As a result of their salvation, they are eternally secure in Christ, forever becoming a member of the family of God, with the assurance that His purposes will be accomplished in the believer now and in eternity.

Sanctification

We believe Christians are sanctified through the offering of the body and blood of Jesus Christ once and for all.  We believe that:

• Santification is a divine and progressive work of the Holy Spirit which begins at the moment of salvation and continues throughout the life of the believer.
• Sanctification is based on the finished work of Christ on the cross, and His present intercessory ministry.
• Sanctification is the work of God which sets the believer apart and accomplishes, in and through Christ, by means of a submissive will, that which is well-pleasing to Himself.

Sanctification culminates in the believer being presented faultless before His presence with exceeding joy.

Church

We believe the local New Testament church is comprised of regenerated, baptized believers. We believe that:

• The one and only Head of the church is Christ, who guides the church through the ministry of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.
• Such believers voluntarily unite together for the purpose of worship, edification, ordinances, fellowship and service.
• The mission of the church is the faithful witnessing of Christ to all men as we have opportunity, starting with the local community, and extending to the uttermost part of the earth, and teaching them to observe all things that Christ has commanded.
• The officers of the local church are pastors and deacons whose respective qualifications and duties are clearly defined in Scripture.
• The local church has the right to self-government, and after seeking Biblical truth and trusting in God’s guidance, shall determine matters of membership, policy of government, discipline, benevolence, etc.  Such determinations of the local church are final and are to be free from interference of any individual or organizations, religious or political.  
• All born-again believers are part of the universal church, of which Christ is the Head.
• Local churches may cooperate with each other in contending for the faith and the furtherance of the Gospel, and each local church must judge the measure and method of its cooperation, based on the Word of God.
• We believe the first day of the week (Sunday) is to be honored as the Lord’s Day to commemorate the Lord’s resurrection, and is to be the day set aside for regular Christian worship and service.

Baptism

We believe the ordinance of Biblical baptism is by immersion.  We believe that:

• Baptism is a picture or symbol of the believer’s death, burial, and resurrection with Jesus Christ and our union with Him by faith.
• Every believer should be baptized in obedience to the example and command of our Lord.
• There is no saving power in water baptism, but it is an act of obedience by those who are already saved.

Lord’s Supper

We believe the Lord’s Supper is an ordinance given to the church by the Lord Jesus Christ.  We believe that:

• The Lord’s Supper is given that we may remember and show forth the Lord’s death until He returns.
• The Lord’s Supper is open to all regenerated persons living in fellowship with and in obedience to the Lord Jesus.
• The elements used in the Lord’s Supper are symbolic and render in themselves no means of grace.

Satan

We believe that Satan is a created being, a fallen angel, the author of sin, and the cause of the Fall.  We believe that:

• He is the open and declared enemy of both God and man.
• He is the “god of this age,” the “prince of the power of the air.”  
• His destiny is eternal punishment in the lake of fire.

Ezekiel 28:1-19; Job 1:6-9; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Matthew 4:1-11; James 4:7; Revelation 20:10.

Hell

We believe in a literal hell, and that the lake of fire and brimstone shall be the place of eternal punishment for Satan, fallen angels, demons, and all unbelievers.
Luke 16:22-26; Revelation 20:12-15; Revelation 21:8.

Heaven

We believe in a literal heaven where God’s immediate presence is manifested.  We believe that:

• Heaven is where the angels dwell, and where the redeemed shall ultimately abide.
• It is from heaven that Christ descended for his earthly ministry and to where, after the completion of His earthly ministry, He ascended.
• It is in heaven that He makes intercession for the saints.
• It is from heaven that He will judge the living and the dead.

John 14:1-3; Revelation 21.

Eternal State

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men; the saved to everlasting life in Heaven, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment in Hell. We believe that:

• The souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord, where, in conscious bliss, they await the first resurrection when spirit, soul, and body are reunited in a glorified body to be forever with the Lord.
• The souls of the unbelievers remain, after death, in conscious misery and torment until the second resurrection when, with spirit, soul, and body, they shall be cast into the lake of fire, not to be annihilated but to suffer everlasting punishment.

Second Coming of Christ and End Times

We believe in the bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We believe that:

• His coming in the air to catch away all believers unto Himself is imminent and will occur before the tribulation period.
• The personal, visible, and glorious return of Christ to the earth will occur at the close of the tribulation period when he will judge the nations and set up His millennial kingdom on earth.
• The final judgment of all men will take place at the end of the millennial reign of Christ to be followed by the creation of the new heaven and new earth.
